Introduction
This is a high-level overview of the Space Invader rules which you can compare to the GZ version ( The mechanics are the same, with some added mechanics such as the weapon recycling system, but the rules have been significantly simplified.
Space Invader.
Mechanics
The game is played on a hexagonal grid, and players place units of the same type on the board. The terrain has hexagon shaped holes for the units to jump into, and these are called "Zones". Each unit has a "strength" and a "charge".
Combat is random. Each unit may move one unit each turn, and a move counts as one action. Action checks are still done, but there is no combat step.
Units cannot enter zones for fear of getting trapped. Units cannot move diagonally from one hex to another, or attack an enemy unit that is not in the same hex.
A Unit's strength determines how much damage it will deal, and it's the units charge that limits the number of times they can be attacked in one turn. It is possible for a unit to shoot itself in self-destruct mode by attacking with its full strength, if it has no charge remaining.
